Ten years ago, Álvaro Díaz, Loreto Acevedo, and Álvaro Rosselot, classmates from a master’s degree in Innovation, saw a need for greater technological development in mining in Chile. This realization led to a commitment that eventually resulted in the creation of Indimin and Smart Mining Coach, the first digital assistant for mining. This platform generates habits and minute-by-minute feedback, ‘to make decisions that would be very difficult to make without the use of advanced analytics or artificial intelligence. And generate benefits, which are 12% or even individual improvements of up to 43% in mining processes,’ highlights Álvaro Díaz, who is now the general manager of the firm.
In this interview, he emphasizes that the mining sector is currently very active in incorporating digital solutions, ‘but the interesting thing is that this has been evolving positively. Seven years ago, when we started, it was very incipient,’ he points out.
With a strong presence already established in the national mining market, they are now focused on continuing to grow in Latin America. They recently achieved an agreement with a significant operation in Colombia, and are also active in Peru. ‘Interestingly,’ he notes, ‘our first export was three years ago: advanced analytics services to Australia, which fills us with joy because that country is a leading exporter of technology (for mining).'”
